LONDON - The P&O cruise ship, the Canberra, is to make its last sailing next year, the company announced. The Canberra, which has been in service for 36 years and sailed more than three million miles, was used during the 1982 Falklands/Malvinas war to carry troops.

A British Tory MP, Mr Nicholas Winterton, vice chairman of the parliamentary all party group on the Falkland Islands, said the Canberra must not be scrapped. "It would be a tragedy. It would be like cutting off one of your hands," he said.
