BUJUMBURA - A EU envoy yesterday met Burundian strongman, Maj Pierre Buyoya, praised him for restoring parliament and referred to him as president.
"We appreciated President Buyoya's step forward," Mr Aldo Ayello, the EU envoy for the Great Lakes region of Africa, said after meeting with Maj Buyoya. Buyoya, a former ruler of Burundi, seized power again on July 25th in a coup backed by the Tutsi-led army.
