Our embassy in Washington is already well on the way to establishing good relations with the new regime in the White House. On Saturday night, following the Bush inauguration, ambassador Sean O'hUiginn hosted a pre-ball reception (it was pre-eight balls actually) for some 60 prominent members of the American Ireland Fund of Texas.

O'hUiginn told them he would be in Houston in April for Mrs McAleese's visit, and looks forward to meeting them all again.
