London - Police are investigating the death of an 11-year-old girl following claims she may have been bullied at school, it emerged yesterday. The girl, from Hackney, east London, fell seriously ill last month and was taken to King's College Hospital, south London, before being transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital, where she died on Monday.

A post-mortem examination found the cause of death was "respiratory distress syndrome and pancreatic trauma". The condition can be sparked by physical injury.

A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: "We are investigating an incident at Millfield Primary School, in Hackney."
