British students hurt in Austrian bus crashes

At least 26 British students have been injured, three of them seriously, in two separate bus accidents in Austria.

At least 26 British students have been injured, three of them seriously, in two separate bus accidents in Austria.

The more serious of the two accidents occurred on the snow-covered road when a truck crashed and a bus with 36 British students on board collided near Bischofshofen.

A large team of local rescuers and Red Cross workers are at the scene to take care of the students.

The gendarmerie official says three students suffered serious injuries, while another 17 were lightly injured. They were taken to area hospitals.

In a previous bus accident also involving British youths, reportedly on the same road near St Johann, six students were hospitalised with light injuries.
