United Racecourses director of racing Andrew Cooper said: "We will have a minute's silence tomorrow.

"We will put a special piece in the racecard and we will ask the jockeys to wear black armbands."

Racing was cancelled on the day of Princess Diana's funeral in 1997 but plans for a possible repeat remain undecided.

"When details of the funeral are announced consideration will be given to arrangements in consultation with the racecourses due to stage fixtures on the day and with other parties as necessary," Delmonte said.
