A Lurgan schoolboy died from a bruised and swollen brain caused by a fractured skull, Belfast Crown Court heard yesterday.

But a consultant pathologist said it was unclear what caused the injuries to be fatal. Dr John Press was giving evidence in the trial of three men accused of murdering Gavin Malcolm (15), in the town on April 8th, 1994. He said the injuries could have been caused by someone jumping on the boy's head.

Before the court are Mr Jason Chillick (22), Mr Keith Brown (23), and Mr William Turkington (18), all from Lurgan, Co Armagh. The trial resumes today.
