A 15-year-old boy was admitted to hospital last night after being singled out by a gang of men and viciously beaten into unconsciousness in west Belfast.
The RUC said the boy was standing with a group of friends in Norglen Gardens in the Turf Lodge area after attending mass in the nearby Holy Trinity Church when the men approached.
The ordered the others to leave and then beat the 15-year-old around the head for several minutes until he fell to the ground unconscious.
He was taken to hospital suffering from cuts and bruises to the head, but was not initially believed to have suffered any broken bones.
