A Bosnian-Serb colonel pleaded not guilty today to charges of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes for his role in the Srebrenica massacre when he appeared before the UN war crimes court.

Mr Vidoje Blagojevic (51) was arrested last Friday by NATO troops in Bosnia and transferred the same day to the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia at The Hague.
More than 7,000 Muslims are believed to have been executed by Serb forces following the fall of the UN-protected safe zone of Srebrenica in July 1995, the worst atrocity of the 1992-1995 Bosnian war.
Two weeks ago, the tribunal sentenced another Bosnian Serb, Gen Radislav Krstic, to 46 years in jail for his role in the Srebrenica massacre.
The massacre was first episode in Yugoslavia's bloody break-up to be ruled as genocide.
