A bomb has exploded in a restaurant in the southeastern Spanish resort of Torrevieja, near Alicante. Police say there were no injuries.

The explosion occurred after a bomb warning from a caller claiming to be from the Basque separatist group, ETA. The restaurant had been cleared by the time bomb went off.

The anonymous caller, who spoke Basque, also claimed a second bomb had been placed on the beach at Santa Pola, further east along the coast, where a deadly explosion took place last weekend.

The Santa Pola beach was also evacuated and police are said to be investigating a suspect device at a nigthclub.

Sunday's Santa Pola attack, which was attributed to ETA, led to outrage across Spain after a six-year-old girl was killed along with a male tourist.
