The body of a fisherman who went missing when his boat capsized has been recovered today.

The body of a fisherman who went missing when his boat capsized has been recovered today.

The man was thrown overboard when the small lobster vessel he was on overturned off Rosslare, Co Wexford.

It is understood the victim was an Irish national in his mid 20s who lived locally.

A major search was launched when a second man managed to swim ashore to Greenore Point and raise the alarm at 4.30am.

The Irish Coast Guard said its helicopter based in Waterford, several local lifeboat and coast guard crews, naval vessel the LE Ciara and fishing vessels were involved in the search operation.

The Rosslare Lifeboat crew found the man’s body at 11am close to the shore south of Greenore Point.
