Gardaí are treating the death of a 62-year-old man whose body was found in Cork today as suspicious.

Gardaí are treating the death of a 62-year-old man whose body was found in Cork today as suspicious.

The body of the man was discovered by a relative at a house in the St Luke's area of the city at about 9.30am.

Gardaí were notified and the house was sealed off.

Gardaí requested the services of the State Pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy.

Upon completion of a preliminary examination of the scene, gardaí confirmed that they were treating the death as suspicious.

The body was removed from the past scence and taken Cork University Hospital where Dr Cassidy has begun a full postmortem examination.
