Blackburn boss Graeme Souness today confirmed that he wants to buy Leicester midfielder Muzzy Izzet.
Rovers are in desperate need of a midfielder after Barry Ferguson's broken kneecap which will keep the Scot out for the rest of the season and Izzet is top of Souness' shopping list.
The club have also been linked with Spanish international Javier De Pedro.
Turkish international Izzet (29) is out of contract in the summer so Leicester face losing him on a free transfer and both Blackburn and Aston Villa are interested.
Souness said: "Muzzy is one name we have identified and he is a target. He is a skilful player who we have watched for quite a while now.
"Barry's injury has obviously intensified that search, but regardless of the injury he picked up recently, Muzzy was still a name in the frame."
