THE black market trade in cigarettes in Dublin is as busy as ever, despite some Customs success in seizing contraband.

In Henry Street at 3 p.m. yesterday, 34 people were selling smuggled cigarettes.

Customs said it was concentrating on catching the smugglers rather than the street sellers.

Near Dundalk yesterday morning, Customs officers seized 250,000 cigarettes with a retail value of £35,000.
