Patrik Berger has confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

His agent had previously claimed the player would seek a move away from Anfield when the transfer window opens again in January.

But Berger, who is frustrated at the lack of first-team chances, said: "It's definite that I'll go somewhere else, but it will be in July next year when my contract with Liverpool runs out.

"I won't go earlier than that. I'm not even considering a winter move," he is quoted as saysing in Czech daily Sport.

Berger (29) did not agree a contract extension beyond next summer. "Why would I extend a contract at a club where I don't play and I'm not even on the substitutes' bench?," he said.
