Bank raiders make off with £10,000 cash

ARMED men stole £10,000 in cash from a Bank of Ireland branch on the campus of University College Galway yesterday.

ARMED men stole £10,000 in cash from a Bank of Ireland branch on the campus of University College Galway yesterday.

Three masked men entered the bank on Distillery Road shortly before 12.30 p.m. armed with a rifle and a revolver.

Minutes later, they escaped in a car which was stolen in Dublin on Wednesday. Several customers were on the premises but no one was injured.

Gardai at Mill Street station have appealed for information from anyone who may have been in the area or observed the vehicle making its getaway.
