A Dublin man was still paying off almost £6,000 the bank had loaned him as a result of fake traffic accidents Dublin District Court heard yesterday.
Bernard Cummins (51), of Crannogue Close, Poppintee, had pleaded guilty to staging two accidents at Skreen Road, Dublin, on November 27th, 1991, and at Claremont Court, Glasnevin, on October 25th, 1991, in order to defraud insurance companies.
Judge Claire Leonard heard as a result of the accidents Cummins had got a letter from his solicitors and the bank had loaned him almost £6,000 as a result. He had paid off £2,500 but still owed £3,000.
Judge Leonard sentenced him to 240 hours community service.
