Bail refused in burglary case

Two men were remanded in custody in connection with the alleged use of a handgun and baseball bat during aggravated burglaries in Galway city. Colin Kenneally (30), Ballinfoyle Park, Headford Road, Galway, and Philip Delaney (30), no fixed abode, appeared at a special sitting of Galway District Court, charged with aggravated burglary on May 28th and with producing a baseball bat during a burglary on May 19th. Bail was refused. They were remanded in custody until Friday.

*Clarification: On March 14th 2012 the DPP entered a Nolle Prosequi (no prosecution) on six of the charges against Philip Delaney including the burglary charge.

Delaney pleaded guilty to the charges of handling stolen property and unlawful carriage of a vehicle. He was sentenced to two years and three months and was disqualified from driving for seven years.
