Bail for priest on abuse charges

A 55 year old Franciscan priest who faces 57 charges of abusing schoolboys was granted bail by Kilmainham District Court

A 55 year old Franciscan priest who faces 57 charges of abusing schoolboys was granted bail by Kilmainham District Court. The priest was charged with buggery, indecent assault and gross indecency on five boys, aged between seven and 12, between October 1975 and September 1983.

Judge Gillian Hussey remanded the priest to June 18th on bail of £1,000, on condition that he does not interfere with witnesses hands in his passport and resides at a named address.
