A man facing 107 charges of sexual abuse of teenage boys was remanded on bail in Dublin District Court yesterday.

Judge William Earley directed that no information should be published about the accused man which could lead to the identification of any of his alleged victims.

The man (64) faces charges dating back to the 1970s and 1980s in relation to alleged offences of a serious sexual nature.

The charges are the result of a prolonged Garda investigation.

The offences are alleged to have taken place in Cork, Wicklow and Dublin.

The accused sat in the dock wearing a navy raincoat, navy trousers and a blue shirt during the short hearing yesterday afternoon.

There was no objection to bail being granted in the case.

The court was told that the defendant had met gardai by arrangement before the court hearing and that there was not a concern that he would not turn up in court.

Judge Earley made it a condition of bail that the accused man not contact or attempt to contact any witness until the case had been dealt with.

The court was told the DPP had directed trial on indictment on all the charges.

Judge Earley remanded the accused on independent bail of £500 to October 29th next for preparation and service of the book of evidence.
