The 19-year-old babysitter arrested yesterday in connection with the search for a Kildare toddler has been released without charge.

A second woman detained over the incident was freed last night.

A Garda spokeswoman said files were being sent to the DPP in relation to both women.

Gardí launched a huge search on Monday night after 20-month-old Savannah McNally was reported missing, along with her babysitter, from her home in Newbridge, Co Kildare.

Yesterday afternoon the child was found safe and well in a shopping centre in Portlaoise, with the teenager. Both were brought to Portlaoise Garda station.

They were picked up by gardaí after a member of the public recognised the pair from a news report.
