The use of a former residential premises at Pembroke Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin, as a reception centre for asylum-seekers is likely to be discontinued, the High Court heard yesterday.

An objection to the use of the premises had been brought in the name of Mr Paul Walsh on grounds that there was no planning permission.

When the case was mentioned in the High Court yesterday, counsel for the State said the present use of the premises as a reception centre would most likely be discontinued by July 24th. But, he added, an undertaking to that effect could not be given at the present time. He asked that the case be adjourned until July 24th. Mr Justice Kelly was told there was no hostility towards aslyum-seekers and that the case was concerned with a planning issue. The judge said he would adjourn the case until July 24th.
