Dublin Fringe Festival has made its mark by capturing imaginations and winning new audiences

Dublin Fringe Festival has made its mark by capturing imaginations and winning new audiences. Its latest initiative is a series of open debates for audiences, producers and practitioners from every arts discipline - and the good news is that they won't be about funding. On Thursday at the Dublin Writers' Centre, the Fringe joins forces with the UK's exciting Institute of Ideas project to hold a panel discussion on developing access to the arts, called "Access to What?" The speakers are: Hilary Strong, formerly of the Edinburgh Fringe, now executive director of London's Greenwich Theatre; Peter Fitzgerald, editor, Circa magazine; Marcus Davey of London's Roundhouse Theatre; Brian Singleton, from TCD's School of Drama Studies, and Pauline Hadaway of Belfast's Community Arts Forum. Claire Fox, director of the Institute of Ideas, will be in the chair. All are welcome - preferably with ideas . . . The talk kicks off at 3 p.m. and tickets and further information are available from Ali Curran, tel: 01-8729016.
