A man in his 40s who was arrested at Cork Airport last night was being questioned by gardai at Togher Station in connection with the alleged rape of a 20-year-old woman in a guesthouse near the city centre on Tuesday night last.
It is understood the man had purchased a ticket to England but was detained by gardai as he attempted to check in.
