At least four people were killed this morning at Vilseck in Germany when a US army truck collided with a high speed German commercial train, police said.

It was unclear whether those killed were US army personnel.

The Pendolino high-speed "tilting" train, operated by German rail, was also damaged by fire from the accident.

At least five people were injured.

The Italian-made tilting train is built to allow passengers to travel at higher speeds with greater comfort.
