Army makes safe device found in college grounds

Army bomb disposal experts yesterday made safe a viable explosive device found in the grounds of a college in north Dublin.

The device was discovered at Coláiste Dhúlaigh in Kilbarrack yesterday morning. The local area was evacuated by gardaí. The Defence Forces arrived at 11.40am to examine the device, which was made safe on site before being transferred to a secure military location. The scene was declared safe at 12.30pm.

Further examination revealed the device was viable. It was the 128th call-out and 62nd viable improvised explosive device made safe by the Army so far this year.
