YEREVAN- Thousands of Armenians contesting President Levon Ter Petrosyan's election victory stormed the grounds yesterday capital, Yerevan, but police drove them back by firing their heads.

Violence spilled over on the day of a protest by tens of thousands who say Sunday's election in the Caucasian republic was rigged and that the real winner was the former prime minister, Mr Vazgen Manukyan.
