Gardaí are investigating an armed raid on a post office in Kilkenny this morning.
A Garda spokesman said at around 9.30am four raiders, three armed with guns, entered the post office on High Street, Kilkenny.
The men dressed in balaclavas ordered customers and staff to get down on the ground before making their getaway with a quantity of cash.
The raiders left the scene in a green four-by-four vehicle, which was found abandoned at Nuncio Road a short time later.
Gardaí believe two of the men then made their getaway in a white transit van while the other two escaped on foot.
Checkpoints have been set up, and anyone with information is asked to contact gardaí in Kilkenny.
No one was injured in the raid, although a number of customers and staff were treated for shock.
