Palestinian President Yasser Arafat arrived in Tunis this evening for talks with President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali on prospects for the Middle East peace process, officials said.

Mr Arafat earlier today held separate talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar in Cairo.

Mr Anzar, whose country hosted the 1991 Madrid peace conference which launched talks between Israel and its Arab neighbours, was visiting Egypt.
