UN Secretary General Kofi Annan last night condemned the latest attacks in the Middle East, calling on Israelis and Palestinians to resume peace talks.
"The Secretary-General remains gravely concerned at the continuing violence in the Middle East," his spokesman said.
"He reiterates his condemnation of all attacks against civilians. Such attacks cannot be justified by any objective."
Earlier, Palestinian militants gunned down four Israelis, including a settler couple and their young daughter, in a roadside ambush in the West Bank as part of promised revenge for a bloody air strike.
