Dublin-based technology firm Alphyra Group said today its British unit has signed an agreement with British electricity group Powergen for use of Alphyra's branded payment network 'PAYzone'.

The group, which provides electronic transaction services and facilities, would not say how much the deal was worth.

Under the deal, Powergen's customers in Britain will be able to pay their electricity, gas and telephone bills through Alphyra's nationwide terminal network.

Alphyra will manage the vending of credit to electricity prepayment customers within the East Midlands area in Britain.
