Gardaí in Drogheda have confirmed that they are investigating an alleged sexual assault on a 17-year-old girl which took place after a group of teenagers from the town made an arrangement to meet through the Bebo website.
A Garda spokesman said that a male teenager has been arrested and questioned and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Gardaí are awaiting the results of forensic tests.
The girl was part of a group of three girls who communicated through the website with a number of male teens, and they are believed to have made an arrangement to go to the cinema in Drogheda.
However, instead the group went by taxi to a house in a large housing estate on the outskirts of Drogheda where the assault is alleged to have taken place.
All the parties involved attend secondary schools in Drogheda.
