The Fianna Fail front bench backed a call by its leader, Mr Bertie Ahern, yesterday for all republican prisoners in this jurisdiction to be released by December 1997 in the event of a restoration of the IRA ceasefire.
Mr Ahern said the prisoner issue was one of the main stumbling blocks to the restoration of the ceasefire.
