An Aer Lingus aircraft had to return to Kennedy Airport in New York on Monday evening when the crew became aware of a fault in one of the engines. According to the company, the crew followed standard safety procedures and returned to New York "as a routine precautionary measure". The aircraft landed normally. The 250 passengers, who were put up in a hotel overnight, will arrive at Shannon this morning.
