An Aer Lingus flight was forced to return to Dublin airport today two hours into a three-hour journey after experiencing engine trouble.

The Airbus A330 carrying 305 passengers and ten crew was bound for Málaga in Spain when it turned around, landing at 11.15am

A spokeswoman for the airline said the plane had to come back to Dublin to be repaired by specialist Aer Lingus engineers.

The aircraft is currently being serviced and is expected to depart at 4.30pm.

“Aer Lingus apologises to passengers for any inconvenience caused,” the spokeswoman added.
