A heroin addict who described himself as a “scumbag” in a Garda interview has been sentenced for robbing a Co Meath florist with an imitation handgun.

Abban O’Hanlon (34), Harcourt Street, Dublin, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to robbery of Jazzy Flowers, Littlepace Shopping Centre, Clonee, on March 10th, 2010. He has 25 previous convictions, six for theft offences.

Judge Martin Nolan sentenced O’Hanlon to three years in prison. He suspended the final 20 months on condition he keep the peace and be of good behaviour for two years.
