Phoenix - A controversial late-term abortion planned for a 14-year-old Arizona girl who says she was raped has been temporarily blocked by a state appeals court judge, the Arizona Republic reported yesterday.

Judge Michael Ryan stayed a ruling by a lower court late on Saturday to send the ward of the court, who is believed to be 24 weeks pregnant, to Kansas for the abortion, unidentified sources told the newspaper. Abortions are essentially not available in Arizona after 20 weeks.
