Brisbane - Descendants of two Aboriginal trackers who never received their reward for helping capture Australia's most famous outlaw, Ned Kelly, lost an action for A$84 million (£40 million) in compensation.

Trackers Wannamutta and Werannabe never received the posted £50 reward for their part in the capture of the Irish bushranger Kelly in 1878, say their descendants. But the Brisbane supreme court yesterday ruled against their claim for it to be paid now - with compound interest of 12 per cent a year added for good measure.
