A man has been fined £60 for riotous behaviour during the stand-off between Orangemen and the RUC at Drumcree, Portadown, Co Armagh, last July. Jonathan Capper (23), a forklift driver, from Ballymagerney Road, Loughgall, Co Armagh, pleaded guilty at Craigavon Magistrates Court yesterday to the charges.
The court was told Capper was seen throwing stones at RUC Land-Rovers. The RUC had banned the Orangemen returning from morning service from proceeding back to the town centre along Garvaghy Road, a nationalist area.
The defendant's solicitor, Mr Brendan Hagan, said Orange-men had used Garvaghy Road for more than 100 years.
