A Belfast man who collected information for the INLA was jailed for four years by the Special Criminal Court yesterday in the first prosecution under laws brought in after the Omagh bombing in 1998.
Kevin McLaughlin (36), a native of New Barnsley in Belfast, with an address at St Theresa's Gardens, Dublin, pleaded guilty to collecting information in relation to the identity and movement of Mr Patrick Neville between January 1st and April 29th, 2000. Such information was likely to be useful in the commission by members of an unlawful organisation of serious offences.
