Lecce - Police said yesterday they had rounded up some 300 immigrants on southern Italian beaches and feared the arrival of many more boatloads due to good weather and calm waters. Some 112 Kurds and 42 Albanians were blocked as they landed in rubber dinghies in the Salento area, on the heel of Italy. Another 40 people from Bangladesh, Egypt, Rwanda and Pakistan were also picked up.
