23 killed in Somali fighting

MOGADISHU - At least 23 people died yesterday and 35 others were wounded in intensified fighting in south Mogadishu. The forces of Somalia's main warlord, Gen Muhammad Farah Aidid, captured new territory inside the Medina district of the city from forces loyal to the self styled interim president Mr Ali Mahdi Muhammad.
