ESB staff in Ballinasloe, Co Galway, have set a new record for accident-free working in the company. There have been no accidents serious enough to cause staff to lose a day off work since February 1996.
The 15 staff involved work in operations, construction and customer service and have clocked up 2,004 accident-free days between them. They are now front-runners for the ESB's annual national safety ward, won last year by Cavan-Monaghan.
