London - British police reopened the 27-year-old case of a murdered student teacher yesterday after a breakthrough in DNA science gave them the means to find her killer.

Scientists have been able to build a DNA fingerprint of Barbara Mayo's murderer from a minute sample found on her clothing. However, police said they do not yet have a suspect who fits the profile.
