Marathon walkGaltee Walking Club holds its second annual walking marathon next Sunday, March 28th, starting at 9am. The marathon is mostly on Slievenamuck Ridge, consisting of forest tracks, farmland and road walking. The route is self-guided and clearly marked. Participants can chose a full (40km) or half (20km) marathon. Registration is €10 per head. Game for a hikeWicklow Mountains National Park is hosting a grouse hike next Saturday. With red grouse in decline in Ireland, a guide will outline the protection and habitat-management programme being followed in the area. Meeting at Lough Tay car park, this will be a slow hike of four or five hours. Participants must bring a packed lunch and be equipped for hiking in bad weather. Booking is essential.
