Connoisseurs of coffee say that the best cup in Rome is served at the famous Tazza D’Oro cafe and coffee shop, near the Pantheon (Via degli Orfani, 84).
It’s certainly the most fun place to sip a great espresso macchiato – once you get the hang of the queuing and paying system – and it’s all but impossible to leave without buying a bag of beans, or beans ground to your requirements. But it’s no longer necessary to take a trip to the eternal city to stock up. Caffee Tazza D’Oro (€5.50 for a 250g tin) is now stocked at Dunne Crescenzi branches in Dublin, and at L’Officina in Kildare Village.
