Galway: Festival
Starting today on the island of Inis Oirr, a festival in honour of seanachaí Joe Mháirtín runs until Friday, and includes seminars, workshops, films, music and dancing. Participation for the week costs €200. For details contact 099-75008.
Derry: City Festival
The Maiden City Festival has a range of events this week from historical talks to marching bands, celebrating aspects of the history and heritage of Derry’s walls (maidencityfestival.com).
Dublin: Well-being
A five-week course starts at 6pm this evening in the Academy Plaza Hotel in Dublin, run by David Hegarty. It focuses on well-being, and looks at diet, exercise and reducing stress. The cost is €65 and it runs one night a week (dynamichealth.ie).
Dublin: Crafts
Baldoyle Library has events for kids this week, starting with a summer crafts workshop for eight to 12-year-olds today at 3pm, and an animal puppets session tomorrow for six to 10-year-olds at 2.30pm (fingalcoco.ie).
Cork: Theatre
Declan Hassett’s play Sisters returns to the Everyman Palace Theatre from today until August 20th. It stars Gerry McLoughlin. Tickets €7 to €25 (everymanpalace. com).
