A new Irish ethical label called Charlotte Jane, featured on the cover of this magazine, revives the look of the 1950s, using Irish wool, linen and tweed, among other natural fabrics. Their debut collection features hourglass shapes, boning and intricate detailing with French lace trims, Peter Pan collars, scoop backs and quirky buttons.

Charlotte Cargin is a graduate of St Martins and Jane Skovgaard, originally from Zimbabwe, studied fine art in Durban and worked in interior design and textiles. The pair are based in Kinsale and offer more than 70 different fabrics and more than 50 styles of dress in sizes from six to 16. They also stock vintage kimonos, bags and hats through their website charlotteandjane.com. Their designs can also be found in Dolls, Clarendon Street, Dublin 2; Granny’s Bottom Drawer, Kinsale, Co Cork, and Willow, Newbridge, Co Kildare. The Maggie dress pictured above costs €205 and the Juliana model on the cover is the same price.
