Retail warehousing is fast emerging as one of the most favoured developments in the Dublin area this year. Walls Properties has just lodged a planning application for a major retail warehouse development on a site of 7.43 acres at Malahide Road, Ballgriffen, in north Dublin. The land is strategically located between the Malahide Road and the end section of the M50. It is also opposite a site at Airfield recently purchased by Tesco for a large stand-alone store. The proposal by the PJ Walls company to build more than 207,000 sq ft of retail warehousing will involve a material contravention of the Dublin city development plan. Collier Jackson Stops, agents for the development, are already in discussions to lease about 80 per cent of the scheme. The largest unit of 100,000 sq ft will be aimed at a DIY group.
