Co Wexford: €1mThe Stable Yard at Horetown, Co Wexford, which dates from the mid-19th century, comes with planning permission to convert it into 11 residential units. It will be auctioned on October 19th - P N O'Gorman Ltd auctioneers is guiding €1 million.
The owner of the cut-stone stable yard is David Young, chairman of the Horetown Polocrosse Team. The Young family, who introduced Polocrosse to Ireland, purchased the house and lands in 1960, turning it into an equestrian centre.
The stable yard originally formed part of Horetown House, which was first built in 1693, although the present house and yard were built by the Goff Davis family in 1840.
Located two miles from the village of Foulksmills and within easy reach of Cullenstown Strand, the stable yard has planning permission for six two-bed mews and five one-bed mews. The complex already includes a three-bedroom coach-house with a livingroom, sittingroom, kitchen, utility room, and a bathroom.
Original features of the stable yard include granite door surrounds, troughs and redbrick window surrounds.
